Using link to page and embedded page blocks

Using inline links

The most natural way to create links on pages is to select text in a paragraph and convert it to a link to the notion page (or external site) you want to link to. These links behaves like any hyperlink on standard web pages. For example, here’s a link to the main Potion.so site and one to the page explaining how the new Potion leverages Notion Wikis.

The main advantage is that links can be inserted inline within a paragraph and you can put whatever text you want as the link, the link isn’t forced to the target page title.

Links using inline mentions

You can also link to pages using inline @ mentions. These links show inline and the text is dynamically set to the title of the target page.

Here’s an example of a mention of the page with tests of Notion callouts: 📣 Callouts. When we mention a page with no icon, it will show the default page icon.

Breadcrumbs

The breadcrumb block shows a set of links from the main page down to the current page.

Table of contents

A table of contents block can be inserted to provide links to section of a page based on headings present on that page.

Bookmarks

Links to external sites can also be created as bookmarks. They expand to show info about the site but can’t be edited so these aren’t very convenient as standard links.

Standard inline links

You can link to external sites using standard inline links within test. For example, here’s a link to DuckDuckGo.
